A 30 minute drive across the scenic rainforest covered hills brings you to the ultimate destination, the Resort. The Land
One of the most outstanding features of the proposed Resort are the superlative views potentially enjoyed from the numerous site hilltops and approaches to the golf course and beachfront foreshore areas. The diverse topography of the Resort will provide residents with a wide variety of views over Natewa Bay, Salt Lake and the rainforest. Residential lots have been designed in a way to ensure that they each boast either a view of the bay, the lake, the golf course or all three.
The Beachfront
Expansive bay frontage with potential to provide further islands, beaches and a marina
Project Summary
Salt Lake Ltd has a holding of more than 580 Acres of freehold land on which it is proposed to develop a residential and resort development. The land has been accumulated over the last 20 years and has been carefully selected on the basis of its natural potential to appeal to both tourists and investors. Without exception all that have visited the site have been captivated with the site’s many natural attributes.

The architects and other consultants have worked closely to create a development plan that allows the full potential of this large site to be realised. This has been achieved by dividing the site into zones which can be developed separately but when completed will add together to provide a unique resort offer.
The Development
We have worked closely with our architects to provide us with a way to develop this large site without destroying its natural appeal. This has been achieved by dividing the site into its natural zones each having individual bures and retreats that offered to their owners places of intimate privacy within a landscape that would still feel free and wild.
Zone 1
Cocoa Resort and Plantations
This zone is based around the idea of a boutique resort representing a small village sitting in a flat area on the beachfront and with the residential lots nestled around in the surrounding hills. The views from the hills are spectacular many offering a full 180 deg view across the bay. Other lots are spread around existing Cocoa and Vanilla plantations. A boutique development of 10 bures and 10 villas to operate as the Cocoa Resort plus 20 residential lots.
Zone 2
5 Star Resort and Stage 2 subdivision
The area chosen for the 5 Star resort is on the other side of the hill in a flat area of the site and with an enchanting mix of natural vegetation and beach frontage. However this setting will be greatly enhanced with the addition of a sea canal encircling the sea around the proposed resort. The resort will have up to 120 villas and facilities to include large lagoon areas, marina, recreation facilities plus 72 residential lots with stunning views.
Zone 3
Eco Resort
This second front serves as the perfect counterweight to the coastal fringe and prevents the scheme from becoming, as is often the case with coastal projects, one-sided with a single, seaward orientation. Designing the units along this Salt Lake shore was particularly exciting. Using the traditional outrigger Drua, or ‘takia’ as a basic concept the architects developed an innovative design that took the best from a simple villa plan and incorporated it with an evocative ‘houseboat’ ethic.
Set into existing mangroves the bures in this zone are low-impact, sustainable units that retain close ties to the landscape around them. The architecture of these units again relies on a traditional Fijian typology but in this case adjusts it to emphasise and expose the relationship between the built and natural environment. This zone will have 60 eco resort units and allow the opportunity to further develop the water facilities (sailing, skiing, fishing etc) in a safe environment.
Zone 4
Golf Course and Stage 3 and 4 subdivisions
The site chosen for the golf course is in the flat open area of the site and so is naturally suited for this. The location of the lake and the topography of the land gives the opportunity to incorporate many water features into the golf course. Again the natural undulation of the land has been utilised to provide residential lots with excellent views across the course and the Salt lake and some of the lots higher in the hills will have ocean views. This zone will consist of 18 hole golf course including club rooms and facilities plus 174 residential lots.
Zone 5
Mountain and Spa resort and further land subdivisions
The design of this remaining 210 acres is not finalized but we believe it has the potential to suit another resort that will make use of the more rugged nature of this more elevated section of the site. It also has the option to provide larger residential lots with views across the whole development and out to the bay.
Further Stages
Set on rolling hills with superlative views across Natewa Bay, Salt Lake and magnificent lush rainforest areas there are 580 acres in total to develop. As well as the 3 resorts and golf course there is potential continue to develop a diverse residential community spread around these majestic lands.
